Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu shared statistics on the number of flights and passenger traffic at the country’s airports for the first quarter of 2022.

According to the head of the Ministry of Transport, the passenger traffic at Turkish airports in the period from January to March this year increased by 67.6 percent compared to the same period last year and reached 29,633,000 people.

The Minister noted that the situation in the field of civil aviation, which had deteriorated greatly throughout the world due to the new type of coronavirus pandemic, began to level off.

In the first three months of the year, the number of domestic flights at Istanbul airports reached 155,913 and international flights reached 105,372.

Compared to last year, the number of flights increased by 44.1 percent.

Passenger traffic on domestic flights in the reporting period amounted to 15,953,000 people, and on international flights – 13,612,000 people.
