In January-March of this year, Istanbul airports served 24 million 451 thousand 843 passengers, which exceeds the results of last year for the same period. This information is reported by Anadolu, referring to the data of the General Directorate of State Airports of Turkey (DHMİ).

Turkish civil aviation has seen an increase in flight statistics and passenger traffic, thanks to the measures taken during the period of normalization after the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the first quarter of this year, Istanbul Airport served 16 million 530 thousand 471 passengers, including 3 million 618 thousand 921 passengers on domestic flights and 12 million 911 thousand 550 passengers on international flights.

Sabiha Gokcan Airport, which is the second largest in Istanbul, served 7 million 921 thousand 372 passengers in the first quarter of this year, including 3 million 712 thousand 598 people flying on domestic routes, and 4 million 208 thousand 774 passengers on international flights.

In total, in January-March of this year, Istanbul airports served 24 million 451 thousand 843 passengers. Of these, 7 million 331 thousand 519 people made domestic flights, and 17 million 120 thousand 324 people – international flights.
