The population of Turkey in 2021 reached 84,680,273 people. This was announced on Friday by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK).

The population of Turkey in 2020 was 83,614,362. Growth for the year amounted to 1,065,911 people.

The share of the male population is 50.1 percent (42,428,101 people), and the share of the female population is 49.9 percent (42,252,172 people).

The share of urban population in Turkey in 2021 reached 93.2 percent, up from 93 percent in 2020.

The share of the rural population decreased over the year from 7 percent to 6.8 percent.
